Why Vote?
Your Awards… your decision
The finalists for Awards 2009 have been announced. You have until Friday 30th January 2009 to cast your votes. Click here to vote.
Who will win in the important Innovation, Safety, Ergonomics and Environment categories is up to you – and with the option of online voting it will be easier than ever to register your choice.
It may be easy to vote, but why should you bother? FLTA Chief Executive David Ellison is clear on this: “The Awards are a very effective way of rewarding and encouraging those who strive for higher and higher standards in the materials handling industry.
“Everyone whose work involves materials handling or fork lift trucks stands to benefit from that constant improvement. To ensure that the most deserving products and services win the Awards, it’s essential that the vote should truly reflect the opinions of those who work in the industry – and for that to happen we need a good ‘voter turnout’.”
Members of the FLTA and readers of ShD magazine have traditionally played a large part in this vote, making use of the official postage-paid voting cards issued with Uplift and ShD around November and December.
While it has always been possible for non-members and people who don’t read ShD to ask the FLTA for an official postage-paid voting card, the advent of online voting via the FLTA website will allow visitors to cast their votes without waiting for the post. As soon as details of the finalists appear on the website there will be instructions on how to vote online.
To maintain the integrity of the Awards and the validity of the results, votes are scrutinised for any irregularities. Electronic systems available today help considerably in this process. We are confident that with electronic voting the results will be fairer than ever.
All users of materials handling equipment are strongly encouraged to vote. That includes all those who own or hire fork lift trucks, as well as those who manage, supervise or train fork lift operators – and, of course, the operators themselves are equally eligible to vote.
When it comes to the result of the vote, there are no foregone conclusions. Anyone and anything can win if you, the voters, feel that product or service deserves it. Please use your vote to make sure the FLTA Annual Awards for Excellence 2009 results continue to be a true reflection of all that’s best in our industry.
