Pedestrian Alert Safety System (PASS)

The Copar Pedestrian Alert Safety System (PASS) helps eliminate lift truck accidents involving pedestrians. The PASS system provides a radio-based alarm which alerts the driver when a pedestrian is nearby. Several cross-check systems help ensure proper operation. Each lift truck has two pedestrian alarm light stations. The rear station, in addition to having an alarm light, also includes a radio sender using the same frequency as the pedestrian station. The rear station constantly sends a radio test signal which is received by the front station. If a pedestrian signal is received, both alarms light instantly.

Rear grab bar and integrated horn

Doosan Infracore UK Ltd: Rear grab bar and integrated horn

Fork lift trucks spend a large proportion of their time in reverse, which can be hazardous to anyone in the workplace. With the simple addition of an emergency horn, built into the rear grab handle, where it can be reached easily while keeping hands safely within the confines of the truck, the operator can sound an instant warning when necessary. In this way an effective and practical solution has been found to a common problem.

Floor control system on EKX Kombi

Jungheinrich UK Ltd: Floor control system on EKX Kombi Jungheinrich UK Ltd: Floor control system on EKX Kombi

Thanks to its intelligent truck management system, Jungheinrich's EKX Kombi sets new standards in narrow aisle safety. Its lift and travel speeds are automatically controlled using RFID technology, as are aisle-end braking and stopping. Meanwhile, its maximum travel speed over a poor-quality floor area is monitored and adjusted via the RFID system to ensure safe transit of sensitive goods. Safety is further enhanced using transponders which facilitate functionality such as permanent distance measuring - ensuring safe distances between the truck and any potential hazards (including other trucks). By transferring information from the master truck, via a simple USB stick, all trucks on a site can be given the same pre-set parameters.

STILL Materials Handling Ltd

Lateral battery change on RX60 16-50 electric counterbalance

STILL Materials Handling Ltd: Lateral battery change on RX60 16-50 electric counterbalance STILL Materials Handling Ltd: Lateral battery change on RX60 16-50 electric counterbalance

STILL's new range of heavy-duty electric counterbalance fork lift trucks has been designed to enable battery change using a pallet truck rather than the traditional method of cranes with slings, or specially adapted batteries with fork pockets. This design eliminates the danger of swinging loads and potential crushing injuries for operators, making battery changing a safe operation for a single person to administer for trucks up to 5 ton capacity. Damage to the overhead guards, truck covers and steering columns is also eliminated, as is the risk of explosion due to unintentional short-circuiting of the battery through the incorrect use of slings.

Tonero Safety+ package

Toyota Material Handling UK Ltd: Tonero Safety+ package Toyota Material Handling UK Ltd: Tonero Safety+ package

The Tonero IC range is designed for high-level safety in the workplace. If you still feel the need for additional features, the Safety+ formula offers an advanced travel control safety system that comprises: a load weight indicator, giving a reading on the multi-functional display, to help prevent overloading which might lead to accidents and vehicle damage; speed and acceleration control technology which helps to avoid potentially dangerous situations, and reduce the risk of load spills, by progressively limiting drive speed with load at height and controlling sudden acceleration; a speed limiter allowing a maximum to be pre-set for the driver.
